The Central Hockey League (formerly CJHL) is pleased to announce that the 2012 Fred Page Cup (FPC) will be hosted by the Kanata Stallions. The four team Championship will consist of the winners from the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL), Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League, the CHL Tier One league champion and the host team (Kanata Stallions). Lou Nistico, GM of the Kanata Stallions was thrilled with the decision “our organization is very excited and we’re confident that we will host an outstanding week.” The Stallions will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, Nistico adds, “hosting the Fred Page Cup will now take it over the top and make the year that much more special for our franchise.” The Stallions will also leverage the experience of Event Chair Tony House (Corporate Hype) who has played an integral role in numerous local hockey championships. In fact both Nistico and House have already recruited a solid nucleus for their Host Organizing Committee.

Kevin Abrams, President of the Central Hockey League (CHL) thinks the league will definitely benefit from having the Fred Page Cup in Ottawa. “It’s probably been long overdue but the timing is right with the Stallions and I think they’ll do a great job of hosting this event.” Abrams also feels the league and especially the City teams can all build on the FPC momentum, “there will be a lot of attention and hype over the next two years around Jr. A hockey in Ottawa which can only help growing our brand in the Ottawa hockey community.” The FPC showcases the best Jr. A teams in Eastern Canada with the winner joining four other teams in the RBC Cup where a National Champion is crowned.
